Marriages are a way to tie knot between two people. Marriages are Universal but the rituals differ in every respect. We have experienced the difference in rituals of different religions. We have came across an Indian wedding recently, we are in love with the culture having so many ceremonies each having its own significance. Indian weddings are known to be Big Fat Weddings due to a number of ceremonies that take place before the actual wedding day and large variety of Indian food to treat the guests. India due to it culture tends to extend weddings, with all the heavy decorations including lightings, decorating the whole house with flowers, exchange of gifts, sound of laughter and giggle.
RITUALS
First comes the engagement day, where rings are exchanged between the couple. Afterwards preparation and planning begins. One of the most important ritual is a group of women singing Indian songs known as geet every single day much before the actual wedding day. Then comes the “Mehndi Day” where all the women and the bride& Groom puts mehndi on their palm to mark the beginning of the marriage ceremonies. Capturing bride while mehndi being put on her palms, guests hugging, giggles and laughter everywhere was so much fun. Then comes “Haldi day” where turmeric is put all over the body, it is said that it makes the skin glow and helps to remove impurities from the skin. Then comes the day we’ve been waiting to capture- The wedding day. Let’s begin with Bride, we started capturing bride while she was getting ready. One thing you must know is bright colours especially red and orange are preferred in Indian wedding.
Either Saree is draped on the wedding day or Lehnga which is cover with shimmer. Bride is covered in gold jewels and red or orange outfit. We captured everything from head to toe. Missing out anything is like missing a whole lot of things. We had to plan every detail carefully to cover the whole story of bride and groom. The venue was full of guests, food stall and giggles. We had a great time capturing the one of the best moments. In the night comes the time for “Saat Feras” ; feras are seven rounds of promise which bride and groom take to begin their journey. Capturing all seven of them was not that difficult as only few guests were left in the end. Then comes the Reception day, where family and friends enjoy some time together with Bride and Groom.
As lot of lighting is available everywhere, lighting has not been a problem all. We were able to set up our tools according to us. Proper session for photography was provided. How can we forget the trend- “Candid Photography” the couple asked for the candid pictures during the whole event. We covered most of the event.
We took time to interact with the couple and discussed all the areas to be covered. Be it any religion or any caste, we ensure the satisfaction of our client.
